According to the calendar, spring is here and we are making Strawberry Danishes and Strawberry-Vanilla Cake again! Please, also try our Black & White Cookies (Amerikaner) and the latest addition to our bread shelf:
Westphalian Rye Bread (Paderborner), with 25% rye flour and - of course - made with sour dough.
Starter doughs not only provide the wonderful aroma, but extend the shelf life and add a tremendous amount of flavor.
Further, we’ve extended our selection of lunch items with two varieties of the all-time favourite Schnitzelburger:
Grilled Chicken Breast with a Mango Chutney Sour Cream Dip or a slice of Homemade Meatloaf with mustard on our Crusty Bun.
We’ve also discovered some new soup recipes for you: Curried Veggie Soup, Gnocchi & Vegetables (both vegetarian) and Curried Chicken & Rice - a “must try”!
We look forward to seeing you!
Please, place your orders by phone (204) 257-7311 or via e-mail crustybun@mts.net
We buy delicious Butter and Quark from Notre Dame Creamery (located in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba) and our Croissants and Pastries are now even more scrumptious!
On a final note, we have good news for those of you who do not live in or close to St. Vital:
Scoop n’ Weigh - the Candy Store for Grownups - on 1770 Taylor Ave and Ellice Meat Market on 712 Ellice Ave carry an assortment of our breads and buns on Fridays and Saturdays.
How to freshen up our Crusty Buns:
From the freezer:
Place the buns on a plate to defrost for approx. 10-15 min. Wet buns on both sides and put them on the toaster for about 1-2 min. each side.
You can also put the buns in the oven for approx. 2-3 minutes at 190ºC or 375ºF.
From the plastic bag or after defrosting:
Wet buns on both sides and put them on the toaster for about 1-2 min. each side.
You can also put the buns in the oven for approx. 2-3 minutes at 190ºC or 375ºF.
How to store our bread:
The best way to enjoy our breads:
Slice the loaf, divide it into the portions needed and freeze them by putting them in a freezer (zipper) bag.
For 1-2 days storage:
Put breads or buns in a plastic bag and seal tightly. Freshen up as described above.
Never put our breads or buns into the fridge, please! At 5ºC our bread will dry out extremely fast because we do not use any stabilizers, bread improvers or preservatives. |
